01: The basics of link-building
a quick look on where to start with your link building strategy
Happy Friday đ
I wanted to start with something on link-building; the basics.
Link-building has a variety of approaches which might be really confusing.
Moreso, investing your personal time to understand every one of them is a huge energy drainer.
To make this simple for you to understand, hereâs a breakdown of the different link-building methods based on your product journey:
Link-building methods differ for;
Newly launched sites
Growing sites
Well established sites
Newly launched sites
If you just launched a site, the main problem you will experience wouldnât be on how to get DR quickly but how to get indexed on all your newly published posts.
Your major focus shouldnât be on quality, rather focus on quantity link-building approach.
Yeah, you heard it right.
Quantity.
In the link builderâs world we call it diversity link-building service.
Therefore, to get your new website rolling, you can start with the basic links such as:
directory mentions,
web 2.0,
forums,
submits,
freelance platforms which allow link mentions in job posts.Â
Web 2.0 platforms - blog sites, that allows you to create your own page on it,Â
Links from trusted web communities, reddit, quora, etc.Â
Guest posting on growing sites with DR10+, such sites will most likely allow you a free guest post instead of publishing fee.Â
Anchors for such types of links should be always branded.
This is what will help here.
Once you fix indexation, and youâve gotten your first Dr 10+, consider your site leveled up to a Growing One.
Growing sites
At this stage, you need to establish a solid steam of every kind of HQ backlinks.
Authority links - can be a new content as well as link insertion to a niche relevant DR40+ article.
Guest posts - newly published content with your backlink.
Editorials - links from DR70+ websites, can be from reputable sites, but mostly from SaaS blogs achieved thru reciprocal link building (aka link exchange).
HARO SEO - links achieved thru help a reporter out service still works, although can be tricky to get started
Multilingual links - links from specific country domains
All of the listed above works best here.
Ideally you want to get a nice looking slow and steady referring domain growing chart.
Although itâs not a big deal if you had spikes, just keep pushing the monthly quota higher.
Pay attention: I havenât listed any skyscraper link building, broken link building, resource link building, because none of these as of now in 2022 are any longer actual link building methods, rather they've become topics for link building content to get traffic and sell whatever the SEO guru wants to sell.
Established sites
At this stage, all possible backlinks are already existing and it is really difficult to beat the quota for inbound links each month.
I have a worked on a couple of projects that got 10k referring domains and bought every possible links that I could get.
What youâll need at this stage is to launch creative campaigns based on linkable assets. Such assets can be tools, market research reports, manuals and documentation.
ABC link exchanges can help here a lot, Ńheck my post about Spider-Man way of swapping links here
Another big savior is a link reclamation method.
In the end
Hope I flashed some light on what can be done in each specific case.
Stay tuned for the next post,
Thanks,
