04. Content Creation During Link-Building: Yes or No?

getmentioned.substack.com

Oftentimes, my customers ask me:

‘Do I need to write articles on my blog while building links?’

No. You need to work on your content strategy overall.

It means not just writing SEO-optimized articles on your website’s blog but broadening the process of content creation.

In other words, build an SEO Content Strategy.

It can even double the results from the ongoing link-building campaign.

The next question my clients ask:

‘Do you provide content creation services? We’re ready to pay you additionally for them.’

And my answer is No again.

Instead, I share with them the simple step-by-step plan on how to build a blog from scratch.

And I’m going to share it with you as well, guys.

Before you start building your content strategy, make sure you:

  • Use smart SEO optimization - do not write for engines only;

  • Add value;

  • Answer search intent;

  • Earn backlinks naturally;

Now let’s jump into building your BIG BLOG.

#1. Research your target audience

I know you’re fed up with this piece of advice.

I promise it will take 15 minutes only:

 Sit and write down the answers to the following Qs:

  1. Why do customers buy from you?

  2. What problems did they face before finding you?

  3. What alternatives did they consider when deciding to go to you?

  4. What do they get the most value from?

Use your answers to find out the keywords for your future articles.

#2. Target ‘Hot’ Buyers

Oops, I mean the ones who are ready to buy just right now.

They are looking for a quick solution.

These people usually seek alternatives, competitors, and reviews.

They compare.

Thus, save these keywords:

[competitor] alternatives

[competitor] vs [your business]

[your business] vs [competitor]

Make sure you use as many as many competitors of yours.

#3. Target customers who are looking for the BEST

Create content using the following keywords:

Best [product]

Best [product] for [need]

Best [product] in 2023

#4. Target the audience who are seeking the solution to their problem

Think of the pain points of your target audience.

You’ll find out the problems they face with.

Your keywords are:

How to [pain point]

[pain point] templates

Look at the example in our niche:

#5. Educate your searchers on the topics that are around your product

Create relevant, educative content for people who are just starting to get interested in your area.

Some examples:

[tool] vs [tool];

tips&tricks;

best practices;

That was the last step of the Content Creation process, to be more specific, the preparation stage of it.

After you follow this instruction, you’ll have a long list of keywords (= content ideas) for your future articles.

Again:

Use SEO-optimization of the text, but do not overuse it;

Add value to your text;

Answer the search intent.

And do not forget about building natural backlinks I mentioned in my previous post:)

Have the best week ahead!

See ya!
